In fact, reaching out for support shows strength and a willingness to confront challenges head-on, rather than avoiding or developing unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Yes, almost everything you share in counseling is confidential. However, there are exceptions where the law requires disclosure. These include situations involving plans to harm yourself or someone else, or instances of abuse or neglect involving children or the elderly. As a mandated reporter, I am required to report these cases. Outside of these exceptions, counseling sessions remain private unless you provide written consent through a release of information form. Rest assured, situations requiring reporting are rare, and confidentiality is a cornerstone of the counseling relationship.
